With the new cricket season on the horizon, Fairfield Books is preparing to publish three titles in quick succession.
First up is Sticky Dogs and Stardust – The Second Innings, a follow-up to Scott Oliver’s Sticky Dogs and Stardust, the 2023 Wisden Book of the Year. Once again, Scott Oliver has combined peerless research with a flair for storytelling to produce another cache of stories about superstar cricketers’ stints in club cricket.
The first day of this summer’s County Championship will also see the publication of The Cricketers’ Who’s Who 2025. This year’s edition of the essential guide to the English cricket season will be bigger and better than ever, with nigh-on 600 players having contributed to their individual profiles and an extended women’s section to reflect the revamp of the domestic structure.
A week later will see the publication of Cricket Changed My Life: Eleven Personal Journeys, a series of uplifting and remarkable stories demonstrating the power of cricket to shape and, often, transform lives. Written by broadcaster and County Cricket Matters editor Annie Chave, it is based on a series of wide-ranging and illuminating interviews with a diverse medley of individuals including a Pakistani teenager left for dead by terrorists, England’s first black cricketer, one of the greatest all-rounders the game in the history of Test cricket, Syrian refugees and David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd.
Sticky Dogs and Stardust: When The Legends Played in the Leagues – The Second Innings is due for publication on Monday March 24.
