How to Win the Ashes Down Under

From fast, hostile pitches to intense heat and historical pressure, for England, winning the Ashes in Australia presents cricket’s toughest challenge. The Times chief cricket correspondent and former England captain Mike Atherton, former England cricketer and author of The Cricket Captains of England 1979-2025 Vic Marks, and author and journalist Richard Whitehead chart the highs and lows of Ashes cricket and the mental and physical challenges posed by a tour Down Under. Chaired by The Times and Times Radio Executive Editor Jeremy Griffin. A book signing will follow the panel discussion.

Ricky Ellcock – Balls to Fly: An Autobiography

Join Ricky Ellcock as he discusses his eventful and inspiring life story. A Barbadian schoolboy who left his family behind to follow his sporting dreams, he became one of the fastest bowlers in England, but his hopes of playing Test cricket were cruelly thwarted by injury. Plunged into depression and forced to pursue another career, a childhood interest in aviation was his salvation. Ellcock relocated to the USA and qualified as a commercial airline pilot, becoming the first black captain with Virgin Atlantic. A book signing will follow the event.
